The other day Jeremy had a meeting in DesMoines and the kids were on spring break so the kids and I went with. Gave me some "out of the house" time and got to enjoy some new things with the kids, and shop of course! Anyway... we were at the mall and I decided to let the kids go in Build-a-bear! I was just going to have them look around but then Mark wanted this tiny lil stuffed animal for $5. So I thought hey why not. So I told the kids they could each spend $5.

Well, after MUCH deliberation they had mostly come up with what they all wanted. Then Alexis got to thinking... she realized.. Mark doesn't have a Build-a-bear at all and I have 2! Hannah has 1. So if we all pool our $ Mark will be able to get a Build-a-bear like the rest of us. So she began her campaign for Mark's Build-a-bear. Ethan was easily convinced.. Hannah not so much! LOL! But she sold mom! LOL!

Anyway to make a really long story short. I felt very blessed by her giving attitude and willingness to give up what she could have had to get her brother something that I decided to get the kids all something anyway! I was greatly blessed to see her maturity in the situation!

We will ask Ethan if Mark is "pretty" and he will say, "No he's a BOY!" Do the same for Alexis, "YEH, she's a Goyle" Go through everyone we know and he is spot on with the boys and girls and all the boys he will say are Handsome, and goyles are pretty! He Blows us away everyday. Then he knows how old all his siblings and himself are. But if you put him on the spot in front of ppl he will say they are all 2! ;)

As you all know it's valentines day tomorrow! Well at school they had a valentines party. Hannah got all sorts of valentines from friends along with candy, she has been giving all she has to her siblings and us. It just blows me away! She will say, "Lex I know you like Hannah Montana" and will give it to her! Whatever it is. Or if it's like star wars she will give it to Mark. I am blown away at how giving she has been. We don't give our kids much candy so when they get it they usually HOARD it! LOL! I am so proud of her!

Recently Ethan has started this silly thing where he will say, "Oh MAN!" with this tone is his voice that would make anyone laugh! He will say it when you tell him to come here for any number of reasons... then slowly but surely he comes. I told him the other day to come here so I could change his diaper... "Oh, MAN!" he says. Then half stomps over. He gets this half crooked grin now though, because he gets a rise out of me or whoever is paying attention. He is going to be the class clown I think! He knows how to "work a crowd".

I am embarking on a new season of Idol. I am not as into it this year as I was last year. Although the auditions can be quite amusing. I am hoping that it is a good season. I loved the other day when it was on they were playing "I can only imagine" Yay for Idol! I am rooting for "Lil Rounds" hence her name. I don't know if there is any relation but it's cool to have someone on there with my last name! She can BELT IT OUT! Man can she sing! I am not saying she is the best, just that I am rooting for her! Anywho... enough about Idol for now.

Well, I am curious to how all of you are doing on your new years resolutions? I have been doing really good on one! I have not watched a single soap since the new year! YAY ME! Um as far as the bible reading I am doing ok, I have been chugging away. I don't do so hot when I wait till evening to read, which is the best time for hubby and I to do it together. But pray for me in that area. I am trying. Um and on the weight thing, well I think I have lost a pound, MAYBE? Still trying hopefully it will all work out. I need to lose some of this "baby fat"! LOL the question is when officially do we have to stop calling it "baby fat"? N E way tell me how all of you are doing on your resolutions?

New Look at Life!

Since my MIL passed I have been thinking a lot! A whole lot about eternity! And about how I want to live my life from this point on. I thought I would share some of the things I have been thinking about.

I have decided that I NEED to put GOD #1 in my life! Yes I have claimed to do this in the past(and have honestly made an effort at it, with lots of failures), but I am really sincerely devoted now! I have never been this determined before. I am going to try to make every decision according to what I know HE wants me to do. I have been struggling with a few issues in my life lately, some of which I have to quit, some of which I need to be better at doing! (such as reading my Bible)! I would covet your prayers in this time!

I have never looked at life this way before. I have decided that there is NOTHING on this earth that is worth going to HELL over! NOTHING AT ALL! I don't care what it is that God may "ask" me to give up! I am HIS! I want to make it to HEAVEN! I have never had that ASSURED feeling before. I always thought that people who claimed that were ridiculously arrogant! But when God says something He means it. In the scripture there is a verse that states that we can KNOW we have eternal life! (I Jn 5:13) So obviously I was missing something! It's not arrogance at all to KNOW that God is right. IT'S FAITH! I believe with all my heart that we can KNOW we are saved by believing God's word, and obeying what it says! I think that before I had things in my life that were between Him and I and that was why I didn't KNOW! Things that I wouldn't give up. Things that were holding me back! Not that I was a "horrible wicked" person, just that I wasn't SOLD OUT for God! Not whole heartily devoted to HIM! I honestly believe that my life will change tremendously. I think that not only with the changes that I am going to make, there will be changes in my family life because of it and my marriage as well! GOD IS GOOD!

I think God has been working on me for a LONG time and he has given me this new outlook for a reason! I am so excited about my future in Him!! Thanks for all of you that have prayed for me in the past, and I hope you will continue to do so!

I babysit a 11 month old, Kylen, that is in the hospital for dehydration! He isn't doing well and they can't figure out what is wrong. He has had 27 poopy dipes in 1 day! Please pray for him. Here is the receipt! it was amazing how awesome and that the coupons were so long!!

I had so many coupons and did so well I had to share!!

15 Electrosol (20 tabs per box, 5 of them had a bonus 5).. $3.25 Target match add and $2.50 cpn out of paper, on each of those.. making them .75 each!

8 Viva paper towel rolls.. $1 normal store price, had a .50 coupon they had at the door of store. Which made them .50.

20 Reeses whipped candy bars.. 2/$1 match ad from Walgreens and a coupon from paper for $1 off 2. WHICH MADE THEM FREE!

10 bags of Luden's cough drops... reg store price of $1.12 with a $1 off coupon from the paper. WHICH MADE THEM .12!!

6 Scott 4pk toilet paper for $2.68 store price and had a $1 off coupon!

10 Buddy Bars of soap for .97 at store price and had a $1 off coupon so they were paying me .03 cents to take them!!!

For those of you who don't know.. My MIL passed away on Dec 31st at 5pm in the evening. She passed in her sleep. We were all thankful for that. She will be greatly missed! God has provided so greatly for us in this tough time. Thanks to all of you who prayed and provided support and love and a PLETHERA(JR's word) of FOOD! We are all so greatful for your support in this time.

Tips for enjoying the holidays to the fullest

Enjoy the spirit of the festivities.

1. Avoid carrot sticks. Anyone who puts carrots on a holiday buffet table knows nothing of the Christmas spirit. In fact, if you see carrots, leave immediately. Go next door, where they're serving rum balls.

2. Drink as much eggnog as you can. And quickly. It's rare. You cannot find it any other time of year but now. So drink up! Who cares that it has 10,000 calories in every sip? It's not as if you're going to turn into an eggnog-alcoholic or something. It's a treat. Enjoy it. Have one for me. Have two. It's later than you think. It's Christmas!

3. If something comes with gravy, use it. That's the whole point of gravy. Gravy does not stand alone. Pour it on. Make a volcano out of your mashed potatoes. Fill it with gravy. Eat the volcano. Repeat.

4. As for mashed potatoes, always ask if they're made with skim milk or whole milk. If it's skim, pass. Why bother? It's like buying a sports car with an automatic transmission.

5. Do not have a snack before going to a party in an effort to control your eating. The whole point of going to a Christmas party is to eat other people's food for free. Lots of it. Hello?

6. Under no circumstances should you exercise between now and New Year's. You can do that in January when you have nothing else to do. This is the time for long naps, which you'll need after circling the buffet table while carrying a 10-pound plate of food and that vat of eggnog.

7. If you come across something really good at a buffet table, like frosted Christmas cookies or pralines in the shape and size of Santa, position yourself near them and don't budge. Have as many as you can before becoming the center of attention. They're like a beautiful pair of shoes. If you leave them behind, you're never going to see them again.

8. Same for pies. Apple, Pumpkin, Mincemeat. Have a slice of each. Or if you don't like mincemeat, have two apples and one pumpkin. Always hav e three. When else do you get to have more than one dessert? Labor Day?

9. Did someone mention fruitcake? Granted, it's loaded with the mandatory celebratory calories, but avoid it at all cost. I mean, have some standards.

10. One final tip: If you don't feel terrible when you leave the party or get up from the table, you haven't been paying attention. Re-read tips; start over, but hurry, January is just around the corner. Remember this motto to live by:

"Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out and screaming "WOO HOO what a ride!"

If some of you don't read my husband's blog , you should. He posted a thing about his mom about what all she meant to him! She is very ill and dying very very soon! We aren't sure if she will make it until Christmas or not. For that reason we are not going to MN this year for Christmas. Please Pray for our family.

She is a much loved women. I don't know of a single soul that would speak ill of her! I have been very blessed to have her for a Mother-In-Law!! I could not have had a better MIL! She always made me feel welcome in her home! Always has Chocolate milk for the kids and a 2L if my fave soda! Even in the dead of winter she would have strawberries in her patch for the kids to pick! ;) I wonder how that happened? The only thing we ever disagreed upon was how much sugar the kids "needed" ;) She always wanted them to be happy and have whatever would make them happy. It hurt her heart to hear them cry! She always wanted to make sure they were ok. She will be dearly missed in our family! Her memory will live on in all of us! This is going to be a very hard holiday season for all of us! Especially the kids. Alexis and Mark are both taking this all very hard! They have both broken down several times. Please pray for them especially! Thank you all so much for your prayers in advance!

YAY! I got the job! Looks like I will be starting training in January! I will also be doing paperwork and all the particulars this Firday! I am so excited! I hope this works out as well as it seems it will for me and my whole schedule and such! YAY!

Job Interview!

Well, I thought I would let you all know I had a job interview today! I was informed of this job through Matura here in Creston. It is a Breastfeeding Peer Councilor! The job will consist of an average of 10 hours a week mostly phone calls and such from home. They will provide me with a cell phone. Then I would have to go into the office on Monday AM's to turn in my time card and check e-mail etc! But it seems that this job will fit into my schedule nicely and I like that I can still, for the most part, stay home. Their might be meetings where I have JR watch the kids or need a sitter but it sounds like a very good fit for me. Plus I am very pro-breastfeeding. I should know next week for sure if I can get the job or not. Please pray for the Lord's will in all this. Thanks in advance for any prayers!

This morning I woke up and took my shower... then I went in to peak on the kids c if any of them were up.. and low and behold, I saw a bare naked baby bum sticking up in the air! Ethan had stripped his clothes and diaper obviously early in the night! What a sight! I got him out and sat him on the potty.. he went... then JR gave him a shower! A much needed shower! His bed was saturated in urine! and so was he! I had to laugh or I might have cried! One of those unforgetable moments! I am very thankful he didn't go #2! LOL, then I probably would have cried!

I was so pumped last night. I have come in contact with a mom that has helped me with some saving tips. She found coupons online for $3 off of TGIF snack items! They retail for $3.12. But this week Wal*Mart had them on sale for $2.50! SO THAT MEANS THEY PAID ME $.50 TO TAKE THEM FROM THE STORE! I used the overage to pay for some much needed cereal along with coupons I had. So here is all I got: 39 TGIF snack items, 9 boxes of general mills cereal, one $3 clearance backpack (Lex's had broken zippers), and a $3.75 hoodie that was on clearance (for Mark for Christmas). The total before coupons was $125.19. After coupons I paid a whopping... $2.66!!! I was so excited and you should have seen JR's face when I walked in the door! He guessed that I paid around $40-$45! THANK YOU DESIREE!!!

Today is the first day of my new JOB!

I have started babysitting today! I will be babysitting for a mom who works at a pre-school so the hours work out pretty nice! I will be working when my kids are in school and off when they are off. I will have a 6mo baby, a 3 yo girl and 4yo boy. The older 2 won't be all the time though. I will have Friday's off too. I really am looking forward to the extra money! It will help with our new vehicle payment and such. Anyway here I go on my new adventure! I will get my baby fix for a while so I don't feel that tugging again! LOL! Plus I will get to wear a baby again too. I only wear Ethan when it's a necessity anymore, he is too heavy.

Creston News Advertiser reported a friend of ours found dead, he was a known epileptic in our town yet the police felt it necessary to TASER him. DUH! He is as gentle as a lamb and wouldn't hurt a fly! There is no way that those police couldn't have restrained him. If that was even necessary?? I am just appalled that this even happened. Another black Mark for our "glorious" police department! Please pray for our church and family of Ron in this time.

Well I decided to share my joy with you all too after I saw Keren's post on being published. JR actually ran across it when he was reading the magazine! I never expected it ever. YAY! Issue 74 page 12 if you get it! It is about how to keep children quiet in church. I shared my secrets bags of tricks. We bring real stuff! like a roll of masking tape and washed up vaseline jar and several other real things.

We were blessed to find a coupon for $65 for a Marriott (I think) and we also got $20 toward our evening meal and free breakfast buffet (which was $8 each) which was a huge smorgasbord of fruit and waffles and all manner of yummy food! It was so nice and ended up being like like $30 when it was said and done with all the discount! And I will say it was the most comfortable bed I have EVER slept on in my life!!!

We got a KCCI grant to get a memorial garden for the 3 killed a little over a year ago here. JR was the one who wrote the grant so he is the one they interviewed on the news. Kinda neat really! I hope this will help those who are mourning to grieve their loved ones.

In this photo is Denise (Kali's mom) and Chris Lowe's mom. Also in the back is Adriana (a friend of ours).

This is a neat project and JR did a great job on it last minute too!!

Hannah Got Stitches!

Well most of you may have already heard that Hannah got stitches, but I thought I would post pics of where exactly they are and such!

She actually got them out on Friday but won't get the butterfly strips off till they wear off! But I am afraid the wound will scar pretty bad.. we will see! A dear friend of mine suggested that I get Vit E gel caps and poke a hole directly on the wound to help it heal. I will post pics again when we get them off and again in a month or two to see how it heals. Pray for her. A scar like that on your face can hurt your self esteem down the road. Anyway just a mama's worries! LOL

For those who didn't hear, she was with a friend of mine at the park and slipped and hit her head on the steps and cracked it opened of coarse it was on a Sat and we were in MO so we had to go to the ER and that scared her more then actaully having it done. She was really brave! She only fussed a bit when tehy put the numbing shot in. Then she sat perfectly still the rest of them time! They swaddled her like a baby! She was so quiet on of the nurses thought she had fallen asleep!

I just hope she heals well without too much scarring! My brave lil Monkey!

Boy's camp!

Well Mark went to boy's camp and came home on Friday! He had a blast! They got to go canoing, fishing, learn how to shoot a gun(but I didn't allow Mark to shoot one), had a big water fight against the staff! And many other things I am sure he didn't tell me about! LOL! He was honorary mention for "camper of the year" which allows him to go free next year if were to have won! That is quite an honor!

Ummmm... what else? Well he came home and just started crying when he walked in the door! I asked him what was wrong, he said nothing, he was just happy to be home! That was so sweet! The kids went running to him when they heard the door open and hollered "MARK"!!!! It was nice homecoming for the first day or so then things got back to normal... fighting and bickering...LOL wouldn't be my life without that.

Oh, when I asked him which week he liked best, Junior(which is bible camp) or Boy's (which is not) he was very quick to answer he, "Junior b/c I like that there was a lot of Bible!" That's my boy! Make Mama proud!

It has blown me away how the kids are so much like fish this summer. We have been blessed with enough money to get a pool pass this summer and they have been swimming all the time! Alexis can now back dive and flip off the boards! SHE IS SIX! No floaties!
Mark can swim awesome too, he hasn't got quite as brave as Lex though! Hannah wants to go without floaties too but mommy insists. Ethan will beg and beg to go down the slide! "Ride, ride!" He will say time and time again!

At our pool he can only go down during family hour and same with Hannah! Unless they can swim from the bottom of the slide to the edge by themselves with no floaties then they have to go with a parent or be caught, and that can only happen during family hour which is 6-7pm. Ethan doesn't quite understand that. I am thinking about doing a pool party for JR's B'day too! I think we would have a great time. Kinda depends on the $ situation, too.

We have been so insanely busy! We have been at camp and trying to squeeze a family vacation and trip to Adventureland! Plus try to get my DR and Kitchen painted and get our basement cleaned up from the floods. This is all why I haven't been doing much blogging lately! I am up to my ears in projects. I would love to squeeze some scrapbooking in all this but I know it is on the backburner for now.

I plan to post some pics form camp sometime. But for now I will just let you all know Mark had a first up in Bible drills for quoting a verse! "That's my BOY!"

We had a really great time. I cried when it was time to go! Those girls really touched my heart! Being a dorm mom was my calling this last week! I had some really good talks with some of them! Girls I love you! I will be praying for you all this year and can't wait to see you again next year!

Well, our oldest is getting so big, I can hardly believe he is old enough to go to Bible camp, but he is! YAY! We are leaving this Sunday to go to camp and will be back Friday! I am going with and planning to work in the kitchen! I am so excited. A friend of mine is keeping Hannah and Ethan for me so I can go and be there for her daughter and Mark. Also I am taking Lex with as well. She isn't old enough for camp but she can go and have fun and such with us. I hope it isn't too HOT! Pray for me, I am also going to be the dorm mom!

Well Hannah is full of lil quirqy things to say! We were at Pizza Ranch with Gma Deb and Gpa Bob and Aunt Lynz and out of the blue she asks Gma Deb, and I quote, "Do you have Severe Problems?" Gma about busted a gut laughing so hard! We all had a hard time composing ourselves. Then even Ethan started laughing! What 4 yo comes out and says something like that? LOL! It has been so fun lately! Ethan's speech has just exploded! He has started saying so much! He can now say Hannah but it sounds like HONEY! Today he was mad at her because he was helping get ice for the cups and Hannah (I mean Honey) started helping to so he started screeming HONEY HONEY HONEY! In such a mean voice but it was so hilarious! He didn't want any part of her helping out at all! I am really enjoying listening to him talk lately!

Monday, we were blessed with the opportunity to ride the BNSF railway to Red Oak and back for FREE! Can't get a better, cheaper family trip then that! It was about a 2-3 hour round trip and the kids had a blast! The BNSF provided snacks and beverages the whole way! They really enjoyed it! Especially Ethan! We told him we were going on a train ride and all he said all day and for the last week was choo choo!!! It is so adorable! He says choo choo every time he hears a train whistle now too! And we hear them a lot around here! Check your local area, they are doing this all over the country!

I was wrong! I was convinced beyond a shadow of a doubt that David A would be the next American Idol but it wasn't it is David Cook! He is great too! BTW! I am happy for him as well I just was rooting for the 17yo boy to have a shot at stardom! He had such a pure voice.

Anyway on the news I saw tonight one of the boys that tried out and made the top 50 who was from IA is going to be signing a Christian record deal! That is great to hear!

I know we haven't seen the end of David A though!

I know some moms dread the time when they have the kids home all summer, but I am really looking forward to it. I hope things are as great as I am hoping. We have lots of plans.

We are hoping to get a pool pass, we also got a trampoline and finally got the basketball hoop up JR got for his birthday from his mom and dad like 2 years ago or so (maybe even more). It has just been collecting dust for a long time up in the rafters of the garage! If we can find a sitter for Ethan for NYR we are also hoping to go to that as well (can't imagine how rough it would be to take a stubborn, nap needing baby there).

I miss spending time with my kids! I feel like I miss out on so much when they are in school! Don't get me wrong I do enjoy the break too. I think that is why I miss them so much. They say absence makes the heart grow fonder!

I am also planning on having 2 of the kids' best friends for babysitting 1-2 days a week. They will enjoy that too!

Looking forward to dance being over and cub scouts letting up a bit. Only special activities, like camping and such.

Kids are starting up t-ball and baseball though so I don't think we will be any less busy really. Although they won't have school and homework. I really want to keep practicing reading with Lex though she will loose so much over the summer if we don't.

OK I am not bragging just to brag because he's my child. I would post this had it been any 19mo child I know! Today I was giving Ethan some string cheese and I was tearing it apart b/c he can't really maneuver it himself. I was counting the pieces as I put it down on the tray for him and I had to pause at 8 because some was stuck together and then all the sudden out of the mouth of a 19mo baby came the word "nine" plain as day! I about passed out! What he can't have just said that!?!?!?!?! I was floored. I had no idea how much that boy was really soaking in! Everyday these kids amaze me with something new! WOW way to go Ethan!

Dance Recitals and Pictures Coming Up!

The whole theme for the Recital is "When I Grow Up". They have pics on this Sunday and Recital is May 30th. YAY! I am nervous for them and excited all at the same time. Lex and Hannah are both in Mighty Movers class which is 2 fold (tap and ballet), the song for ballet is "When I Grow Up" for tap, it's "Sugar Sugar". Alexis' song for Clogging is called "Mud" they will be wearing overalls with patches that match their shirts. Then for pre-tumbling the song is "Yaketty Sax" they are wearing a red leotard. I will post pics of the girls in their dance costumes once I take them.

Well I am in my HOT kitchen baking cookies... and I was standing there with the windows open and listening to a weed eater and a lawn mower in the background! Plus every once in a while I would get a whiff of the fresh cut grass over the baking cookie smell! YAY it is finally SPRING!

Advice for mom's!

Just a lil' advice for all you mom's and grandmom's too actually! Don't get on your 7 yo son's(or grandson's) bike and try to ride it in a grassy area that has a lot of holes and such in the ground! It could possibly cause a very painful/embarrassing situation! Trust me I learned this from experience!

We Had Our Youth Rally This Past Weekend!

Well we had our youth rally and had 47 ppl there. It was good. William Pope was the speaker for it and we had the old middle school gym for afterwards. The "men" played b-ball(I say it that way cause they let Mark play some too). They played 3 games!

I had games for the lil' kids and it was a lot of fun! I did loose my voice though. I am finally kinda recovering from it. I slept from 8pm till 7am the next morning. We played the clothes pin game and had a scavenger hunt. We also played the cottonball on a spoon race. We had a small ducky pond that actually turned into the lil' kids just playing with the ducks. I brought the kids' fold out house and bus. We had a bean bag toss for a few of the littlest ones. All in all it went pretty good. I had a hard time because I could have really used a helper. But maybe next year we can plan that part better.

FOOD was awesome as always. We had chili dogs or you could have it seperate! YUMMY! And way too many cookies. LOL

Bike-a-Thon

Mark and Alexis are in a Bike-a-thon to earn money for their school! We are looking for sponsors. They ride their bikes at our state park here near town. The money goes directly to the school. It will help them provide a quality education for our children. I know they are planning on building a new building in the next 2 years as funding is available. My Latest Decorating Fun!

It was my friend's daughter's 11th birthday yesterday and we had planned on me making curtains for her but it turned into a whole new overhaul on her room!

She loves Hannah Montana and butterflies so we Incorporated both!

She was so excited as you can see by the photo of her!

Her mom and I painted the letters and frame and then I did it like a scrapbook page for the center of her name!

I made this by using a piece of wood and cloth left from the curtains, some batting, ribbon and tacks! Very simple project and it's nice for them to put clippings in or photos of their friends! I also made 4 throw pillows and a pillow case out of the curtain cloth too!

I was so excited to be part of giving this big girl a big girl room! She had blue's clue's curtains that came down right before this project!

It was so much fun!!!

To set the scene: Hannah and her 6yo friend were playing on bar stools with their toys and sitting on them and such and Hannah was playing like the floor was water.
Friend: "How can we be standing on water? Why don't we pretend it's cement?"
Hannah: "God's lifting us!" Said in an attitude like duh can't you figure that out!

I was so touched and lifted up by this lil' scene played out in my home! Makes me feel like we are doing something right. Hope this blesses you!

Ok, I see many of you having tips that work for you so I thought I would post one that works wonderfully for me.

I have to give the credit for this tip to my friend's hubby. Here's the tip: Don't throw out your old blinds ladies and gents! Take the string out and keep the plastic strips.

I am not sure how many of you have posters around your homes. I have had many issues with posters not staying up trying to use that tacky stuff or tacks or tape or nails and nothing really works. You end up with a ripped poster or it never stays up. Trim the strip to the width of the poster, tape it on the 2 shorter ends. Then drive small nails through the plastic strip and poster. It holds them up there very well.

Girl's weekend!

My friend Dana and I, and our two oldest girls went to Des Moines this weekend, spent the night in a motel, went shopping, to Build-a-Bear, and to Chuck E. Cheese's! We all had a blast. We got kicked out of the hot tub, they told us at the front desk when we checked in that there wasn't a closing time on it so we went down there kinda late so there wouldn't be anyone else hopefully. I guess there was a complaint so they came and kicked us out. We weren't being that loud at all. I think I may have got after Lex once or twice but I didn't screem or anything. OH WELL! We still had a great time!

It was nice having the girl time. We try to do special things with each of our kids. They love the one-on-one time! It's good for JR and I too! I think JR was getting a bit jealous of my alone time with them lately though ;) He said to me as I left, "I can't wait to go fishing and get some time with Mark."

My Baby Girl is 4 Now!

Well yesterday Hannah turned 4! What a mile stone! I can't believe she is that old already! WOW! She is four going on 12! She talks like a 12 year old. She blows me away with the stuff she comes up with everyday! I always knew she would be a talker. I got her a shirt that says "Talking makes me happy" and it has a monkey on it! So fitting for her!

Speaking of growing up, my oldest son will be 8, May 13th! 8 YEARS OLD! WOW! He is growing up so much too! This summer will be his first year of Bible camp too! I am planning on going as a cook and helping out a lot. I can't wait!

Last night Mark got home and needed to take his shower before he went to bed so I sent him up to do it. It took him quite a while, seemed to me he was dilly dalling, so I asked him what took him so long. He said he was watching the water go down the drain??? Whatever tricks your trigger?
Anyway, I gave him a big hug and noticed he had some cologne on. I told him he was to put that on in the morning b4 he went to school. He was really bummed. I asked him why he was bummed out about that. He told me, and I quote, "I wanted you to give me more kisses, mommy!" Broke my heart clear in 2 pieces! That was so absolutely adorable. To want ME to give him more kisses so he put on cologne! SWEET! That won't happen forever so I better treasure him WANTING my kisses while I have the chance! I was a basket case after that. I told him I would give him all sorts of kisses whenever he wanted them, and proceeded to kiss his whole face. I will never forget that moment as long as I live and will probably tell that story to his future wife! ;)

New Book

Well I got a new book from the conference. It is called Get Off Your Knees and Pray by Sheila Walsh. I am really looking forward to reading it b/c this has been an area in which I have struggled. I feel like I don't really connect with God and I don't really feel him answering. Maybe it's b/c my ears are turned off I am not sure. I am hoping this book will give me a bit of insight. I will let you know what I thought when I get it done. Might be a while with 4 kids I don't have much leasure reading time.

Women of Faith weekend

Well I was so looking forward to this past weekend. The conference was great. Max Lucado was there. It was a lot of fun.

BUT... I ended up getting really sick. I still am kinda now. I got the FLU! Friday night I ended up passing out back at the motel room at about 3am! Not a fun weekend at all. I really don't feel like eating anything. I had called JR to let him know what was going on only to find out Mark and Lex had puked as well! G....RATE! We have stains on our carpet now (any clues as to how to get them up?) I hope this doesn't go clear through our family! I hate it when we are all sick... Man I can't wait for winter weather to be over!!!

Other then being sick though the conference was really good. It was nice to spend some time with friends I don't get to see much. I laughed and cried all in the same breath, on several occasions. LOL. I was convicted and encouraged as well.

I am really looking forward to an early birthday present this weekend. One of my friends bought my ticket for the Women of Faith confrence in Omaha! I am looking forward to going and getting a break from the kids, too. It will be nice to get away and spend time with some women and have a good time too. Also to lift my spirits and get encouraged spiritually as well. The topic is Infinate Grace! I am so excited!

Making Green GAK! For St. Patty's Day!

You mix 2 liquids and get a solid! Crazy huh? But we all had a blast with it!

Well most of us did... she didn't like the mixing process! AT ALL!

Even Ethan got in on the fun!

Once it was made the kids were all giggles!

Even Hannah liked playing with it. I think more then all the rest really! I gave them cups...when you put it in the cup and make a flat thing that covers the top of it then make a fist and punch it down it "farts" as the kids called it! They were laughing (ok we all were) so hard we couldn't even breathe!

So I thought I would share the recipe:

GAK

8 OZ of Elmer's Glue (can be generic)
3/4 c Hot water

Mix these 2 together in one container until glue and water are one liquid!

Then:

2 tsp Borax soap
1/2 c Hot water

Mix these 2 in seperate container until it looks like water again! All soap must be dissolved!

Then:

Mix both substances together using hands to mix do it like you would kneed braed almost and vwala... you have 2 liquids making a SOLID! and very happy kids!!!
